Rhonda Aikens Moore Honored by Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in Secondary Education
Dedicated educator with over three decades of teaching experience
MADISON, FL, August 26, 2010 /High School PR News/ -- Rhonda Aikens Moore, Teacher at Madison County High School, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of Secondary Education.
With over three decades of teaching experience at Madison County High School, Mrs. Rhonda Aikens Moore's expertise is in English and media service. She feels that the secret to her success comes as a direct result of the values and work ethic that were instilled in her from childhood by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.D. Aikens. From their Christian example and positive influence, she grew up knowing the importance of receiving an education, and as a result, she chose a career that she could make an impact on society. This experience and her love for people made her realize that her calling was teaching.
Moore's choice of professions is also connected to her being a part of the family's legacy of educators—grandmother, mother, aunts, sisters, and cousins. Their dedication, passion, and positive example inspired her to not only choose teaching as a career, but also to strive to make such an impact on her students.
Moore creates a learning environment of dignity, mutual respect, and positive thinking within her classroom. She focuses on the "whole student" with her expectation of their giving "nothing less than their very best" effort. By her encouraging them to maximize their participation, the students would come to realize the potential they have within, for they know she is genuinely concerned about them.
During the course of her career, Moore received the following recognitions: Teacher of the Year, Employee of the Year, Who's Who Among America's Teachers, and Outstanding Young Woman of America. She has had the privilege of participating on the Florida Senate panel for Teacher Hiring and Retention as well as the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) passage review committee. Other responsibilities over the years have included her being advisor for the school yearbook and National Honor Society, and mentor for Take Stock in Children. She has worked through several agencies/organizations to collect funds for St. Jude Children's Hospital, the Souper Bowl of Caring, and the Salvation Army.
Some of the memberships she has held over the years include the National Council of Negro Women, the International Reading Association, National Council for Teachers of English, Florida Council for Teachers of English, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She is a dedicated and active member of Mt. Zion Cherry Lake A.M.E. Church in Madison (County), Florida.
Moore received a Master of Science in English from Nova Southeastern University, a Bachelor of Science from the Florida State University, and an Associate of Arts in general studies from North Florida Junior (Community) College.
"In appreciation for her unconditional love, encouragement, guidance, and support, I dedicate this recognition to the memory of my mother, my friend, and my inspiration—Mrs. Lucile B. Aikens, a most effective educator in the Madison County (FL) public system with 47 years of dedicated and untiring service. Her passion for teaching and helping others to succeed in life has left an indelible mark, not only in her family's hearts, but also in the hearts of all others whose lives she touched in her own special way. She passed away on January 8, 2010." -Rhonda Lucile
