Gayla B. Boudreaux, Special Ed Teacher, Finds Fulfillment in Helping her Students Blend into Society and Gain Self-Sufficiency
MAURICE, LA, March 16, 2010 /High School PR News/ --Gayla B. Boudreaux, Special Education Teacher for North Vermilion High School, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in special education.
A 15-year veteran of the education field, Gayla B. Boudreaux is dedicated to helping special-needs students blend into society and live independently. She has devoted most of her career to North Vermilion High School, where she teaches life, social and job-seeking skills to learning-disabled kids, always placing emphasis on keeping their parents involved. Proud to hail from a family of teachers, Ms. Boudreaux ventured into education because of the influence of her father and aunt, who were in the field. Originally set on a career as a regular physical education teacher, she eventually found her niche in special education. She considers seeing her students' disabilities become less pronounced and helping them develop social skills and self-sufficiency to be the most rewarding aspects of her career. She attributes her success to her keen sense of personal accountability and to the inspiration of her mother, Gerry Baudoin.
Ms. Boudreaux received her Bachelor's Degree in Special Education in 1995 and her Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education in 1972, both from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She volunteers regularly with the Very Special Arts Committee of Vermilion Parish and the Special Olympics. Ms. Boudreaux dedicates this recognition to her students, who helped her discover her true purpose in life.
