Carol L. Cook is a Recognized Leader in Student Advisement and School Counseling

Carol L. Cook celebrates 23 years with James Hillhouse Comprehensive High School

    NEW HAVEN, CT, March 19, 2010 /High School PR News/ -- Carol L. Cook, Guidance Counselor at James Hillhouse Comprehensive High School, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in school counseling.

A skilled student advisor and counselor, Carol L. Cook lends more than 42 years of educational experience to James Hillhouse Comprehensive High School in New Haven, Connecticut. Now thriving in her 23rd year with the school, Ms. Cook utilizes her background in the education field to provide counseling services for Hillhouse students. She also assists students with the college application process and consults with parents, teachers and administrative professionals. Prior to attaining her current position, Ms. Cook served as a counselor and teacher at a variety of institutions across the Northeast and Texas. She taught at the University of Bridgeport, Lee High School and Mercer County Community College. Her earlier counseling and student service experience includes positions at the University of Maine, Massachusetts Bay Community College, Northeastern University and Becker Junior College.

Ms. Cook is a decorated professional, having received a number of awards and accolades for contributions to her field. She was selected for inclusion in Who's Who Among Outstanding Educators in 2002 and was honored with the TAPS Award for Outstanding Teaching in 1991. She was the recipient of the Outstanding Teacher Award from Connecticut Public Television in 1990, and was a selected mentor and selected assessor in the state of Connecticut in 1989 and 1988, respectively.

Ms. Cook holds a Master of Education in Counseling from Northeastern University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Simmons College. She completed coursework in business administration, group counseling, career education, Wechsler IQ testing, human potential, decision making, employee morale and motivation, and marketing. In addition, Ms. Cook holds teaching certifications in business, counseling, mathematics and adult education. Her professional affiliations include the Connecticut Business Education Association, the Connecticut Association of School Counselors, the Boston Personnel and Guidance Association, the Massachusetts Association of Women Deans and Counselors, the New Jersey Personnel and Guidance Association, the New Jersey Cooperative Consortium, the Maine College Personnel Association and the Middle Atlantic Placement Association.
