Dagmar Phillips to be Profiled in Exclusive Registry
Dagmar Phillips' passion for helping students enables her to thrive as a West High teacher
ANCHORAGE, AK, February 3, 2010 /High School PR News/ -- Dagmar Phillips, Teacher at West High School, has been recognized by the Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication and excellence in teaching Gifted and Honors World History, and Alaska Studies.
With eighteen years' teaching experience, five at West High, she is responsible for teaching accelerated classes at the magnet school, and also the Alaska Studies course required for graduation for all students. She associates her success to maintaining high performance standards, and a high degree of flexibility in addressing individual students. She believes in making history relevant to her students' lives, an example of which is her annual week-long trips with students to Alaska Native villages under the auspices of the Alaska Humanities Forum Urban/Rural Exchange Program. She takes pride in mentoring student teachers and colleagues.
Phillips received Bachelor of Arts degrees in Education and English from the University of Alaska Anchorage. She earned a Pediatric Nursing Degree in Germany previously.
