MLK Basketball Classic and Nike All-Star Football Game

Two of the Hottest Sports Events in South Florida

    MIAMI BEACH, FL, January 08, 2010 /High School PR News/ -- Tournament of Champions will host the 2010 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. "Stop the Violence Basketball Classic" on Saturday, January 9th, 2009 at Northeast High School in Oakland Park, FL and the 14th Annual Nike South Florida All-Star Football Game (Dade vs. Broward) on Friday, January 15th at Flanagan High School

Tournament of Champions, Inc. (TOC) will host the 2010 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. "Stop the Violence Basketball Class on Saturday, January 9th at Northeast High School in Oakland Park, Florida and the 14th Annual Nike South Florida All-Star Football Game on Friday, January 15th at Flannigan High School. These events are part of a week -long schedule of events that will also include a visit by the All-Star athletes to the Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital (January 7th); the TOC Human Development Symposium (Tips for Success for Aspiring Collegiate Athletes) (January 14th at 5pm at Flannigan High School, Pembroke Pines) and Dr. Martin Luther King, JR Sports Festival Corporate Reception on Thursday, January 14th at 7pm at

The 2010 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Sports Festival will showcase some of the premier amateur athletes, and future professional athletes, from South Florida. This event features 18 of the best basketball teams in South Florida, all under one roof, in a full day of great competition. Top national players that are scheduled to compete include Tim Hardaway, JR (Michigan), Will Sheehey (Indiana), Marvin Bayhnum (GA Southern) and Fabricio De Melo (Syracuse). An All-Classic Team will be selected as well as an event MVP. Based on the longevity of these events, 95% of all local born NFL and NBA players, who graduated high-school within the last fifteen years have all participated in one of these two events, while Philadelphia Eagles' Asante Samuels has participated in both. Miami Heat players James Jones and Udonis Haslem were both MVP's of the MLK Classic, during their respective years of participation.
