Lenny Wilkins Inducted into Cambridge Who's Who
Lenny Wilkins brings nearly 20 years of expertise to the New York City Department of Education
NEW YORK, NY, November 12, 2009 /High School PR News/ -- Lenny Wilkins, Guidance Counselor and Boys and Girls Basketball Coach at Manhattan High School, New York, N.Y., has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in education.
As a guidance counselor and basketball coach at Manhattan High School, Mr. Wilkins is primarily responsible for helping students with more than their share of daily challenges; develop an understanding of the importance of good academic and social skills. He also works part-time as an Activities Coordinator for Transitional Services for New York Inc./Hope House 2.
Growing up in the Bronx, New York, he benefited from the male role models that preached education and sports and to use your athletic skills as an avenue to a college education. Mr. Wilkins is employing those same techniques with his students.
Mr. Wilkins received his B.A. in Special Education from CUNY/ York College in 1995 and his M.S.Ed. in Guidance and Counseling from CUNY/Brooklyn College in 2000.
He coached the Manhattan High School Girls and Boys basketball teams to the 2007-2008 Public Schools Athletic League Alternative High School Division Championships and also volunteers as a girls basketball coach with the Peekskill, New York Recreation Department and Special Olympics New York-Queens.
Mr. Wilkins resides in Peekskill, New York with his wife Jacqueline and their daughters Jade, 18 years old, and Jalyn, 14 years old.
