Gloria H. Daniel Anderson Enjoyed a Fruitful 40-Year Career in Education
COMPTON, CA, September 25, 2009 /High School PR News/ -- Gloria H. Daniel Anderson, who has retired as the Chairman of the English Department of Centennial High School, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in secondary education.
Ms. Daniel Anderson concluded her career at Centennial High School, an institution within Compton Unified School District, after a fruitful four decades as an educator. The English department chair for 17 years, she was responsible for disseminating information within the department, conducting meetings with teachers, the school principal and other chairpersons, and attending conferences, seminars and workshops.
Prior to moving to California, Ms. Daniel Anderson worked as a drama teacher on the East Coast. Her most notable stint in this capacity was as theater director for Thomas Edison High School for Boys in Philadelphia. While in this city, Ms. Daniel Anderson was also involved in social work through the Department of Public Assistance, which she served for six years. She considers being able to pursue her twin passions for theater and English literature to be the most enjoyable aspect of her long career in education. She attributes her success to her persistence and optimistic attitude.
Ms. Daniel Anderson received her Master of Science in Education, with a concentration in Speech and Dramatic Arts, in 1957 from Temple University, her Master of Arts in Drama in 1970 from the University of California, her Master of Science in Education, with a concentration in Inner City Fellowship Studies of Minority Groups, in 1968 from Illinois State University, and her Bachelor of Arts in English and Social Studies in 1942 from Talladega College. She is a member of the Century City Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Though officially in retirement, Ms. Daniel Anderson hopes to continue tutoring and helping children. She recently started writing her memoirs.
