Brenda Joyce Fortes Honored by Cambridge Who's Who
Brenda Joyce Fortes has Spent 19 Years Teaching at Both High School and College Levels
BOYERTOWN, PA, April 28, 2009 /High School PR News/ -- Brenda Joyce Fortes, Language Arts Teacher for Boyertown Area Senior High School of Boyertown Area School District, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of secondary education.
A 19-year veteran of education, Brenda Joyce Fortes, M.Ed. has established herself as a leader in education in Boyertown Area School District and in various institutions of higher education. She specializes in teaching language arts and, as a teacher with Boyertown Area Senior High School, is charged with functioning as a senior high school language arts co-teacher and drafting the Reading Remediation Program. In her additional role on the Boyertown Area Senior High School's Character Committee, Ms. Fortes is responsible for writing and updating the Academic Integrity Initiative Statement for the Senior High School. In addition, she serves with the Curriculum Writing Team as they re-write the Senior High School Reading and Language Arts Program of Studies. Previously, Ms. Fortes lent her talents to Montgomery County Community College as adjunct English faculty and conducted higher education writing courses. She also served on the President's Advisory Council for Diversity at Montgomery County Community College. She finds deep personal fulfillment in helping students feel validated as human beings and giving them hope for a bright future. Ms. Fortes attributes her success to her love for children manifested in teaching them the intricate connection of learning with understanding and respect for the basic human dignity of each person as the path to individual and world peace.
Ms. Fortes received her Master of Education in 1998 and her Bachelor's Degree in English Literature in 1972, both from Eastern University. She is a member of Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. Ms. Fortes was nominated for the Disney America's Teacher Award, 2002; and was listed in Who's Who Among America's Teachers in 2000, 2002, 2004, 2005, and 2006. She is also listed in Marquis Who's Who In America 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009 as well as Marquis Who's Who Among American Women in 2008 and 2009. The American Biographical Institute has also included Ms. Fortes in the International Who's Who of Professional and Business Women. She has also been inducted in Biltmore Who's Who in 2009. Ms. Fortes was inducted into Cambridge Who's Who as a VIP member in 2007.
