PALM BAY, FL, March 13, 2009 /High School PR News/ -- Parenting teens includes many challenges as well as joys. The teen years are often difficult for the teenager as well as their loved ones, and most teens survive them, in spite of a few bumps along the way. Lawrence Lawton of the Reality Check Program believes that kids are not bad, just sometimes make bad choices.
The Reality Check Program is a one of a kind program. Lawton will show parents what the program does and how it can help ALL families. The program opens the eyes of teens and young adults and helps them see the likely consequences of bad choices and illegal activity. Lawrence Lawton, founder of the program says "I'm not their father, mother, teacher, counselor, or the police. I am an ex-con and paralegal who doesn't sugarcoat it. They understand and listen to someone who has been there. I tell them the reality of going down the wrong path."
The special two hour parenting program will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at 6pm at the Primerica Office (next to the Driver's License Bureau) 3542 Harbor City Blvd., Melbourne, FL 3293. The cost is $25.00 per participant and all attendees must pre-register which can be done with a phone call to 321-327-2921 or on-line at www.realitycheckprogram.org.
Special guest speakers at the parenting program will include: Dr. Janis D. Buffaloe, specializing in adolescents and adult physiology and Duana "Dee" Boyles from the Law Firm of Harrell & Boyles Esq. A family law and criminal defense firm experienced in handling juvenile delinquency matters.
Lawton's program for kids is approved by the Brevard County Juvenile Court for 8 hours of community service. In addition, many college bound high school students are taking advantage of this program to reach their 75 hours of community service requirement for the Bright Futures Scholarship Program.
