Ms. Harris-Shahid brings 31 years of professional experience to Detroit Public Schools. An expert in social studies and English education, thematic learning, staff development, and computer work, she is responsible for planning curricula, writing grants, and the instruction of middle school students. A recipient of the Skillman Award and Kellog Awards, she attributes her success to her knowledge, passion for teaching, and love for children.
A product of Wayne State University, Ms. Harris-Shahid earned her Master's Degree in Education Administration in 1996. She is affiliated with the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development. Ms. Harris-Shahid aspires to further roles in staff development, research and charter schools.
