High gas costs may interfere with teenagers getting enough behind the wheel instruction.

Parents can save as much as $180 by sending teenagers on an instructional drive on REAL ROADS, On-Line, without the high cost of gas, stress.

/High School PR News/ - AUSTIN, TX, July 19, 2008 - "It would take me weeks and who knows how many gallons of gas to drive my teenagers through all the scenarios at teenlivedrive.com, says Bernice Smith, a mother of three teenagers in St Louis, Missouri. "It's a real savings to have them ride on real roads online, before I fill
up the tank and get in the car with them, I look at it as a great head start."

Teenagers watch real life driving situations on real roads while listening to a professional driving instructor talk about the traffic and approaching situations,
In real time.

A new website, www.teenlivedrive.com, allows teenagers to download video files that play on iPods, iPhones, iTunes and in QuickTime on desktops and laptops,
or get a DVD.

"Most schools don't teach behind the wheel anymore, says Jim Grimm, driving instructor and coach at Reagan High School in Austin, Texas. "I think an in-the-car instructor is best, still an in-the-car instructor online is great, since many kids wind up tuning out a parent."

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that car crashes are the leading cause of death among teens, nearly 6000 every year and some 300,000 injured.
NHTSA promotes a graduated driver licensing system, where young drivers satisfy staggered requirements before full driving privileges, a system that has shown a reduction in crashes.

"I know that this video instruction is the next best thing to actually driving with a parent ", says Paul Greenway, producer of the video content. "Teenagers most definitely need to get behind the wheel, and www.teenlivedrive.com offers the best preparation I know of."

"All subjects in school are important but in a way I think drivers education is most important ", says Grimm. "I mean not being able to add can't kill you, not knowing what to do behind the wheel can be lethal."
